June in Berlin is a time of celebration, creativity, and endless possibilities! As I mentioned before (read last year June’s diary), June in Berlin is probably my favorite month. That is because the city comes alive with a vibrant energy that is hard to ignore, taking advantage of the longer days to enjoy outdoor activities. After 10 years I still can’t get used to the fact that even at 10 pm is still a day. Mindblowing!

Another reason why June is a special month for me is because the month starts with Dora’s birthday. Most of the time we take advantage of that and we travel or we go to music festivals, many times we do both! This time we decided to stay here and visit a brand-new hotel/restaurant (Anima) near the river Spree. We had a great time. The food was delicious, the drinks were… many, and the atmosphere of the place was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate Dora’s birthday! Dino & Bobbi approve.

One more highlight of the month was my best friend’s Antonis visit after two years. It was an intense week full of emotions and memorable moments. The truth is that every time we meet, always something special happens! This time we didn’t go to many bars or restaurants and we didn’t explore new cool places. The reason for that was the Greek basketball finals. So we spent a lot of time watching the games, reading interviews, listening to any kind of podcasts related to the finals, and generally consuming unstoppable content of questionable validity. It was hardcore! Oh yes, add to that one bottle of rum for each game as a “ritual” (No, we are neither superstitious nor alcoholics ). Thankfully after 0=2, we won the finals 3-2 and we found peace in our souls. We made a promise, though, that we have to find a new ritual for the next season.

The main reason though, for Antonis visit, was the live performance of our favorite band ( except Radiohead of course) The Smile.

The last time we attended their live show was two years ago, here in Berlin. And what a great experience it was! Therefore the anticipation was high and yet they delivered. Once more, the outcome of the supergroup’s performance was unreal! It’s funny because every time these guys put on a show I am always anxious if they gonna be as good as the last time, if they gonna be tired or a little rusty, but NO. Each time they appear even better setting the bar one step higher, amazing! God bless them. Until the next time!
