All I can say is that May was all about emotions. Various, many, and intense emotions!
Visiting Greece for the Easter holidays (known as "Pascha") for 15 days was not an easy decision. The idea was to take advantage of the holidays to spend some time with friends and family and at the same time to work as digital nomads in Athens. Woody Allen once said that “If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans”. Well, probably our plans were hilarious!
It didn’t work out so well for us. The Airbnb’s (yes, plural, we changed two) experience was a disaster. In the first one, we fell victim to the anti-gentrification rage from the residents of the Exarchia district, and in the second one we “took” back as a souvenir, serious back and waist pain due to the very “comfortable” mattress. As soon as we came back to Berlin, we immediately booked sessions with a physiotherapist. Oh yes, indeed!
Easter Sunday in Greece, is a time for feasting and celebration, with traditional dishes among family and friends. These customs are meant to bring the loved ones together, by eating, drinking, and dancing for 10 to 12 consecutive hours. Sometimes, this does not have a happy and peaceful ending. Maybe as I am getting older I realize that all these long-lasting gatherings with relatives are overrated. So many demands, and too much intensity with no reason. Keep it shorter guys!
In conclusion, after a long dry period (13 years), my favorite basketball team, Panathinaikos, won the Euroleague championship. Panathinaikos secured a historic victory by claiming the seventh EuroLeague championship title, of its history, having a brand new team with 11 new transfers and a new coach. Amazing! That solidified the status of Panathinaikos as a dominant force in European basketball. That win brought me great happiness and emotion. That feeling is something very difficult to describe, especially if someone has not that kind of relationship with a team. When you are a devoted fan and you support your team with passion, no matter the wins and the losses, a triumph like that can put you in seventh heaven!
In the joys and sorrows together!
