march 2024
March in Berlin is a significant month! A transition period characterized by the gradual shift from the cold winter months to the warmer days of spring. As the daylight lingers longer into the evening, the promise of brighter days stays ahead.
Two special events and one trip were the highlights of this month. The first event was the live performance of The Smile at BBC Radio 6 Music Festival after the release of their second album “Wall of Eyes”. They were joined by the London Contemporary Orchestra and the outcome was impressive! The funny thing is that it was an “in-house” concert because the show was streaming online and for the second time we attended the supergroup’s live from our living room. The best appetizer to whet our appetite until June, our next meet-up.
The second event was an extraordinary experience overall. Since the last time (2017) that we went to Swans Concert a lot has changed. Fortunately, one thing remains the same. The entrance to an immersive and intense sonic trip that captivates you from start to finish. The band's ethereal melodies, combined with their raw and powerful vocals, create a unique atmosphere that lingers in the air long after the last note fades. The dynamic interplay between Michael Gira and the other musicians on stage is mindblowing, demonstrating their exceptional cohesion and musical prowess. Overall, the Swans concert was truly an unforgettable experience that left us with a profound impact of catharsis, through diving into the darkness of our souls!
Visiting Greece, our homeland, is always a good reason to get away from your routine, even if it’s only for a short amount of time. Spending quality time with your family and friends is always refreshing and priceless. Not to mention the pure pleasure of eating comfort food that brings you back memories and plenty of feelings. I think these short trips are necessary once in a while to recalibrate and recharge your batteries. Till the next time!
