august 2023

Like July, August was not as the previous years, since the weather conditions were more or less peculiar. In the first half, the temperature was significantly low with rainfalls almost every day. Even strong thunders and lightning made their appearance some days “out of the blue”. All of this had the effect of making us believe that maybe this year's autumn came faster than we expected. So we went into the process of activating the fall mode. Thankfully, in the second half of the month though, the situation changed completely, and we got back to the typical vibrancy and warm summer days of August.

Overall it was a pretty quiet month with plenty of relaxation and personal time. We watched Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece. In addition to his technical mastery, he is one of the few filmmakers who have the ability to make massive commercial successes, pushing at the same time the boundaries of cinematic conventions, and challenging viewers to engage with complex themes and moral dilemmas. A breathtaking visual experience!

We went for leisurely walks in parks and markets near the neighborhood. Both Mauerpark and Kollwitzmakt, are always vibrant and energetic destination that perfectly encapsulates the lively spirit of Berlin. Kollwitzmarkt is a bustling open-air market with a charming atmosphere. This market is a haven for both locals and tourists seeking an authentic shopping experience. Every Saturday, a myriad of vendors gather to showcase their unique products, ranging from fresh produce, flowers, and artisanal crafts to mouthwatering street food and wine. As the sound of live music fills the air, visitors stroll through the bustling rows of stalls, engaging in friendly conversations with passionate sellers. Kollwitzmarkt truly captures the essence of Berlin's vibrant culture, offering visitors a delightful blend of flavors, aromas, and crafts!

I finally managed to find some time to resume an old but much-loved hobby, the hobby of reading books. I realized how important is to take a break from the fast-paced digital world that we are living in and engage deeply with a story. Reading books is an enriching experience that opens up a whole new world of imagination and knowledge. They have the power to captivate, inspire, and challenge us. “I often carry things to read so that I will not have to look at the people” -Charles Bukowski.
